US Deaths in March 2020 DOWN 15% from Average of Prior Four Years!
What is going on? After shutting down the government and killing the greatest economy in the world due to deathly estimates from specialists on the coronavirus, the data is showing that this may be one great big mistake or hoax.
According to data obtained from the CDC’s National Center for Health Statistics Mortality Surveillance System website, total U.S. deaths for the first three weeks of March are DOWN 10% from the average of the prior four years for the same three week period.
The average for weeks 9 through 11 for the four prior years was a total of 170,555 deaths. For weeks 9 through 11 this year, the total is 153,015, meaning 17,540 fewer people died in America during the first three weeks of March than could be reasonably expected. And the gap between historic deaths and weekly deaths is widening. For week 11, just 47,655 Americans died, 8,773 and 15% fewer than the average for week 11 in the prior four years. And while data on week 12 is not complete, it is trending similar to week 11 and will likely be down by 15% (around 8,700 deaths less than expected) even though 1,919 COVID-19 deaths were reported (in week beginning 3/22).
Now after deaths for the entire month of March are reported, the results show that deaths in the US this March are 15% less than the average of the past four years!
IN MARCH OF 2020 THERE WERE 34,000 (rounded) LESS DEATHS THAN THE AVERAGE NUMBER OF DEATHS IN THE US OVER THE FOUR YEARS PRIOR!
According to the CDC’s website, in March 2020 there were a total of 193,000 deaths in the US. The average number of deaths in the US for March over the four years prior to 2020 (2016 – 2019) is 227,000. The difference between this year and the average for the past four years is 34,000. 2020 deaths are 85% of the average of the prior four years.
The US is experiencing 34,000 less deaths in 2020 than in the prior four years but we are concerned about a virus that to date as of March 31, 2020 that had a total of 4,000 US deaths? What is really going on and who is responsible for the broken estimates and consistent messaging in the President’s ear to shut down the US economy?

The CDC link takes me to the ‘Fluview’ page.
Week 11 states 50,785 Americans unfortunately died.
Influenza and pneumonia accounted for 3,972 of those who died.
The pneumonia figures have risen from 3,445 to 4,155 (+710) between Weeks 11 – 13.
Total deaths have fallen from 50,785 to 44,402 (-6,383) between Weeks 11 – 13.
Of course, there may be other reasons for the apparent drop, but the rise in pneumonia/flu coupled with the drop, don’t paint a picture of a viral apocalypse.
As a comparison: The mean for Week 10 in the last 3 years was 57,686. This year was 53,463.

Heck, now, with the new loosey-goosey CDC directives, we do not have the precision to know how much of that pneumonia decline (6383) was summarily moved to the covid 19 death classification.

What this tells me is that people are staying home and not getting into car accidents or shooting each other at the mall. They are not getting the flu or other diseases that kill because they are washing their hands and all that other inconvenient stuff.
You guys need to start thinking inside the box once in awhile.

I don’t think you are completley off base. I remember when our parents hoped we got the measles or chicken-pox so we were immune. But I don’t think we should open schools just yet. If just for the kids, sure. But teachers are adults and have to go home to their families. There are too many reasonable exceptions.
But the biggest reason is because we don’t have a history with this virus yet. Too many unknowns.
We are 1. trying to slow it down so as to not have to deal with so many cases all at once, and 2. giving the medical community a chance to react with treatments. And both those things are happening.

We know 99% of the young and middle aged get over this virus with minimal issues. We need to protect the elderly and the frail. They need to self-isolate. We need to close all the retirement homes and step-up screening for all those working within. We need to generate herd immunity.

I feel this will be spun to state advantage and an argument for continued lockdowns as it decreases mortality rate overall.
However I would argue since the hospitals are mostly now shut in general with only minor exception this could possibly parallel historically hospital strikes that although infrequent, displayed drops in the mortality rate of up to 35% dependent on source.
Dr Andrew Kaufman (youtube) mentioned that correctly dosed prescribed medicines in the US alone caused 141000 deaths last year.
There are many factors that require scrutiny.

It started in China…and it is not over in China. Does anyone believe the Chinese over reacted? Why would the Chinese be doing a hoax? It appears the Chinese called it some unknown kind of pneumonia originally and tried to ignore and cover it up. They reacted harshly when they realized it could infect most of the population. You can thank China for running some kind of bio lab that played around with deadly viruses….thank China for keeping the outbreak secret…thank CCP for allowing hundreds of thousands of air travelers in and out of China in February ….than CCP for continuing to keep secrets about the numbers.

That’s a good point, George. I was skeptical too. Which is why i took some time to look at the numbers. Their report on the CDC numbers is correct.
I don’t doubt your opinion of ‘Epoch Tines’ in general. But are their numbers consistent this time?
There have been opinions here regarding the drop in the numbers which is fine. All of us have different apriori beliefs. But if your beliefs cannot change in the light of new evidence they become dogma.
So how much faith do you have in the CDC figures? Or the BBC? Or Sky News? Or the Daily Telegraph? (apologies if you are American. I don’t pay any attention to them.)
It would be nice to see some numbers in support of the many opinions regarding the reduction in mortality rates.

I am in Canada. And I agree about news sources. I have been searching for simple, real, fact reporting for a long time now and I think it just does not exist. All of them test positive for bias.

Perhaps the reduction in deaths can be explained by the fact that all the elective hospitalisations have been cancelled. Less death by medical mal-practice.

At some point, the CCP realized that the virus was going to be devastating …lots of sickness…lots of deaths…shut down economy. I believe that the CCP deliberately allowed the spread outside of China. Everyone has some bias…one way or another…no perfection among humans. However,some humans ran the NAZI party and some humans run the CCP party. ADV China on Youtube and two related channels are 2 Caucasian guys who went to China years ago…married Chinese wives…and have an outsiders view…I don’t think either one will return to China anytime soon….they have some possessions which they expect to abandon in China.
