Shock News: 2016 and 1998 have Statistically Same Temperature

Scientists say satellite temperatures for the year 2016 show no statistical difference when compared to the year 1998. In other words, that’s 18 years of no global warming. However, several mainstream fake news outlets are telling readers 2016 has just become the world’s ‘hottest year.’

Skeptics are mocking the lame media claims – which revolve around a supposed ‘rise’ of 0.24 degrees – statistically well inside error margins. Since the 1980’s the UN’s IPCC has predicted a global ‘climate catastrophe’ if governments don’t restrict increases in human emissions of carbon dioxide, the supposed cause of ‘catastrophic’ climate change.

But with CO2 levels in the atmosphere now edging over 400 parts per million (350 ppm the official ‘safe’ limit) there seems to be something wrong with the cornerstone of the science –  the so-called greenhouse gas theory.

Dr Roy Spencer, climatologist at the University of Huntsville, Alabama, puts the stark truth of this global warming non-event in black and white (see full data below). Regardless of the actual data the New York Times is peddling fake news on the issue. And surprise, surprise the NYT HIDES the numbers for 2016, a year they trumpet as ‘hottest year ever.’

Robert Tracinsky (the federalist.com) calls out the NYT on their latest fraud:

“I just got done combing through a New York Times report titled, “Earth Sets a Temperature Record for the Third Straight Year.” The number of relevant numbers in this article is: zero.

We are not told what the average global temperature was, how much higher this is than last year’s record or any previous records, or what the margin of error is supposed to be on those measurements. Instead, we get stuff like this.

Marking another milestone for a changing planet, scientists reported on Wednesday that the Earth reached its highest temperature on record in 2016—trouncing a record set only a year earlier, which beat one set in 2014. It is the first time in the modern era of global warming data that temperatures have blown past the previous record three years in a row.

Note to the New York Times: “trouncing” and “blown past” are phrases appropriate to sports reporting, not science reporting. Except that no sports reporter would dare write an article in which he never bothers to give you the score of the big game.”

Meanwhile skeptic climatologist Dr Spencer reports:

“The resulting 2016 annual average global temperature anomaly is +0.50 deg. C, which is (a statistically insignificant) 0.02 deg. C warmer than 1998 at +0.48 deg. C. We estimate that 2016 would have had to be 0.10 C warmer than 1998 to be significantly different at the 95{154653b9ea5f83bbbf00f55de12e21cba2da5b4b158a426ee0e27ae0c1b44117} confidence level. Both 2016 and 1998 were strong El Nino years.” (see graph below)
